Download link: Milk & Cookies – YO! (register & login to view link)
Here begins the biweekly takeover of my fellow Chalice Dubs duo, Milk & Cookies! You can expect several new releases over the next couple months, and this first one should set your expectations pretty high. Their new track YO! - originally titled “la idiota” – contains Milk & Cookies‘ signature anthem flavor, but with more swagger in the drop than I’ve ever heard them pull off. Cheers, YO!

Hello world! After some much-needed soul-searching and the trek of a lifetime, Miss A is back in action. But before I surrender this repetitive, mundane routine I call my normal life to the upcoming onslaught of DJ fun & reindeer games, I have some tunes to share!

You were hooked the moment the drums hit. It’s alright, I know what you’re on. You guys are ALL about the Trap Music these days, so check this new track called SHUDDDUP from my buddies The Interns.
The Interns claim they are “just 2 Jewish kids who’ve been DJing forever, producing forever, and both play instruments as well. [They've] been making music together [their] whole lives and probably always will.” Their moniker arose after earning an internship with Flosstradamus a few summers ago, which heavily influenced their perspectives on DJing.…

Check out our new DJ & EDM Forum (just launched Friday July 27 2012)
There is a new movement sweeping the nation and it’s not for the lighthearted. It is a subgenre called Trap Music and it is comes to us straight from the dirty south. Now it is not a new movement per se, but it is fresh to the world of electronic dance music aficionados. Now let me take you to the laboratory. If we were to build a trap song, we would pull elements from both dubstep and moombahton, slap on some 808’s, hi-hats, kick drums and some sharp snare lines. And boom! You have yourself a highly syncopated trap song. Now I am sure it is not as easy as 1, 2, 3 and I don’t suggest you run to your computer and start making some dope trap beats. But I suggest you get acquainted to … Read more

As it turns out, Champaign-Urbana IL is home to way more than Big 10 Sports teams and sticky-floored campus bars. Seeing as I currently reside in a college town full of townie talent, I should definitely be sharing it with you all. Here is the first edition of what my friends are doing with their lives!

DJ SOLO – TRAPS N TREES (Electric Forest 2012) (register & login to view link)
Hey loves, hope you took Andrea DiLorenzo‘s Trap 101 to heart, because I’m about to show you how it all works out!
Meet DJ SOLO, the Chicago-based Chieftain of Bass that left all the trees talking at this year’s Electric Forest in Rothbury, Michigan. The warm and dusty woods came alive when he took the stage on Sunday evening, and as I joined the throng of dirty bodies I felt the energy too. TRAPS N TREES comes with the complete DJ SOLO package of locomotive drops, unique blends, and interesting samples. It’s not just a playlist of the most popular tracks with “trap” listed as their genre - there was clearly some digging involved in this set. As with any type of music, gems are hidden amongst garbage, but TRAPS N TREES… Read more

This is for all of us 80s and 90s kids who grew up on the Power Rangers, N64, and rap. In this day in age we have progressed far and beyond those days and have indulged ourselves in a world of Xbox, Justin Bieber (…er), and trap music.
Trap music has very recently become a rapidly spreading epidemic, such that it has even found those with Avicii/Afrojack/Guetta eardrums to be infected. From its exploding 808s, to its crisp hi-hats and snares, it can be most easily described to what I find as a fusion of hip-hop, house, and dub. Trap is growing so fast in popularity that even Felix Cartal put in his 2 cents:
The first guy I want to introduce is Brooklyn’s own Baauer. Originally I first heard of him via Flosstradamus’ Diplo & Friends BBC mix about a month ago and … Read more
