Miss Amphetamine - Not a Feminist, I’m Just a Female (Trap Music 2012)

Here’s a little something from little Miss Me. This was the first time I ever incorporated Trap Music into a DJ set, and it also has my notorious Breakin’ a Sweat x No Beef mash-up.

Fear of Tigers - Calling Your Name (Tigorilla Remix) (Trap Music)

Download link: Fear of Tigers – Calling Your Name (Tigorilla Remix)
Download link removed per request

May I proudly present to you another member of Chalice Dubs doin’ big things in the blogosphere & beyond! Tigorilla has just put out a beautiful remix of the trance gem “Calling Your Name.” Upon listening to the original I felt that it built up rather slowly before taking off, but here Tigorilla kind of strikes you with the spirit of the track right away. Between the creative placement of his drums and the rhythmic intensity of his synths, Tigorilla has found a way to leave you frozen in time.

Milk & Cookies - YO! (Trap Music)

Download link: Milk & Cookies – YO! (register & login to view link)

Here begins the biweekly takeover of my fellow Chalice Dubs duo, Milk & Cookies! You can expect several new releases over the next couple months, and this first one should set your expectations pretty high. Their new track YO! - originally titled “la idiota” – contains Milk & Cookies‘ signature anthem flavor, but with more swagger in the drop than I’ve ever heard them pull off. Cheers, YO!

Hello world! After some much-needed soul-searching and the trek of a lifetime, Miss A is back in action. But before I surrender this repetitive, mundane routine I call my normal life to the upcoming onslaught of DJ fun & reindeer games, I have some tunes to share!

You were hooked the moment the drums hit. It’s alright, I know what you’re on. You guys are ALL about the Trap Music these days, so check this new track called SHUDDDUP from my buddies The Interns.

The Interns claim they are “just 2 Jewish kids who’ve been DJing forever, producing forever, and both play instruments as well. [They've] been making music together [their] whole lives and probably always will.” Their moniker arose after earning an internship with Flosstradamus a few summers ago, which heavily influenced their perspectives on DJing.Read more

Nicki Minaj, Beez in the Trap (Mister Gray Mo Trap Remix) (register & login to view link)

Mister Gray stays true to the original with this Nicki Minaj “Beez In The Trap” remix but manages to still add his signature tenacious swag. For those who don’t know what “Beez In The Trap” means Apparently, Nicki explains on the Graham Norton Show (and I quote), “It just means, ‘I am always…’ you know, that’s our slang way of saying, ‘I beez doing such-and-such-and-such.’ So it’s really like, ‘I am always in the trap.’ Now, the trap, ladies and gentlemen, relates to anywhere where you get your money.” Class dismissed.

Mister Gray is rapidly becoming well-known for his unified transition from one genre to the next. He is always putting up an energetic show concocting an up tempo, high energy, “in your face” open format set. Mister Gray’s unique style stems from … Read more

As many of us know, trap has had a recent surge in popularity amongst EDM listeners.  For many, trap is EDM’s rap (except much better).  I will be posting weekly installments of the best old/new trap I hear and what I think you guys will enjoy.  Below is a compilation of recently released songs that I think deserve much more play time than what they are getting.

I will always have a strong connection to Hard Fest. Hard Summer 2009 was my first dance music concert—only I didn’t listen to dance music then—which is probably for the better since it got shut down before I ever saw any live music. Still, for moments and events and people and reasons I will not discuss, this was a pivotal moment in my life. Sometimes you know when your life is inextricably altered; I think I knew that night.

Walking into Hard this year, on the eve of my 23rd birthday, I didn’t feel older or wiser, or like I knew any better; I felt like I belonged. The central argument amongst the “EDM Elite” is about the inevitable integration of dance music into pop music, selling out, entering the mainstream, becoming an Avicii, etc. The works cited to that argument is the heaps of kids infiltrating Read more
