Fn Pig (Original Mix) – Deadmau5 (register & login to view link)

Deadmau5 continues to amaze us with his incredible production talent. He has made some of the biggest songs to date, and “Fn Pig” doesn’t disappoint. The build up to this song would make you think you were going to hear a soft, soothing, “Strobe”-esque Deadmau5 track, but when the drop comes around, you are proven totally wrong. Listen for yourself, and wait for the surprise.

We see tracks come and go all the time, but Strobe by Deadmau5 is definitely one of the timeless ones. I think the same can be said for the artist, but I’m bringing a few others into the spotlight today. Deadmau5 is a difficult one to remix, with his flawless sound engineering and minimalist approach to melody & harmony. There are a ton out there, including an entire iTunes album, but I’d call these the 3 best remixes of Strobe:

Redial has released the latest Strobe remix – one of the few to be taken down in tempo. I never thought the original theme could take on the sort of swagger you find in good moombahcore, but the drop in this one makes me want to put aviators & a nastier looking face Read more

Icarus (Extended Mix) – Madeon (register & login to view link)

Easily one of the most anticipated tracks of 2012, and probably late 2011 too, has finally been released. It’s taken me a while to get my hands on it, due to Beatport and iTunes being so temperamental, but here it is – Icarus by Madeon!

So, where to start? Well, this 17 year old (Yes, you read that correctly. Now go and re-evaluate your life) musical prodigy from France caught the attention of dance music head honchos such as Deadmau5 and Steve Angello, amongst many others, with his viral Pop Culture (register & login to view link) video on YouTube, and subsequent remix of Raise Your Weapon (register & login to view link), both of which showcased his immense producing, mashing and remixing capabilities. Swedish House Mafia Takeover (Full Show) (register & login to view link)

Pretty much everyone who had access to BBC Radio 1 on Friday night was tuned in to the legendary Pete Tong‘s dance show, that was subject to an invasion of Swedes, namely the takeover by the superstars of the Swedish House Mafia. Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso have been quiet on the production front since Antidote, touring heavily and playing shows all across the globe. Well, all that was about to change. The Swedes previewed a gang of new tracks, including new records from Alesso, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello, Third Party and the Swedish House Mafia themselves. The ID that opened their now legendary set at Madison Square Garden has finally been given a name: Greyhound.

Steve Powers

Of all the DJ’s to infiltrate the music scene in New York City, DJ Steve Powers has found a way to distinguish himself from the rest. Steve holds a weekly residency at the ultra-exclusive restaurant/club Lavo in New York, Dusk in Atlantic City, and Board Room in Chicago. He has played with countless big names including LMFAO, Avicii, Kaskade, and Laidback Luke. The New Jersey born DJ is one of three official G-Shock DJ’s (register & login to view link). Coming off a recent performance with Deadmau5 on New Years Eve, I sat down and spoke with Steve Powers to hear about that and much more.

  • What is your ideal deejaying set-up?
  • For me, I’m a Pioneer guy so I keep it pretty simple.  A Pioneer DJM-800 mixer, 3 Pioneer CDJ 2000’s, and a microphone.
  • How has your sound or sets changed since you’ve started deejaying?

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS HEAVY S**T

This post is titled Fridays finest! Because we are now going to collaborate with another EDM blog called VinylPenetration (register & login to view link) I was asked to make a post that we could both post on our sites. In this post I have selected some of this months best tracks and a few from August, but nevertheless they are BANGERS. These songs come from top of the line DJs (Avicii, David Guetta, Kaskade, Tiesto, Deadmau5 and more!) as well as some that maybe unknown like SebastiAn and Caligula. I chose these songs for one reason, you should ALL have these in you playlist. Without further adieu!Read more

The Canadian electro dance music icon Deadmau5 aka Joel Zimmerman seems to have perfect timing. It was only a year ago that Deadmau5 released his 4 x 4=12 album, which received an enormous amount of world wide support from the near 4 million fans that are oh SO loyal to Mr. Zimmerman. If I had to make a comparison, I would say Deadmau5 is like the Steve Jobb’s of the electronic dance music world. His innovative production skills has set him on a stage above the minds of most producers in the game, practically giving Deadmau5 his own genre of electronic music. “Where My Keys” released on Mau5trap, is a blend of the various genres Deadmau5 has mastered, including hard hitting electro and glorifying melodies. Back to why his timing is so perfect. “Where My Keys” is the second release after his release of  the mighty “Professional Griefers”, which gives Read more

Sonny Moore and Joel Zimmerman are HOT right now. Skrillex and Deadmau5 have been releasing track after track of filthy dirty grimy electro house and killer electro dubstep. The two unreleased tracks “True Gangsters” and “Where Are My Keys” seem to be two VERY promising tracks. I’ve heard True Gangster live both in person and on recordings and of course Skrillex kills it every time. Deadmau5 new track Professional Griefers and now Where Are My Keys seem to be paving the way for a possible new album. Stay tuned for the final tracks which should be released soon!

The one and only Deadmau5 (my favorite producer btw) has dropped this HEAVY tune. It’s been a while sine I have posted a song on this marvelous website and I’m sorry to all the fans and followers of fromdjs. I’ve been having some major sound issues with my computer and I’ve only recently been able to find a work around.

On another note Deadmau5 everybody. This tune is hot. It is bleeding with electro house and the bass is cranked up. I highly recommend this song to any fan of electro and definitely anyone that like a nice loud bass in any song. The Canadian producer originally played this song a few weeks ago at Lollapaloza and from the videos I have seen it was nuts. Please enjoy this track I have plenty more to come!
