Skrillex – Bangarang EP
Bangarang EP – Skrillex (register & login to view link)
Part of what left me so bitterly disappointed with Skrillex’s remix of Levels (register & login to view link) was that, arguably being of the few artists to have a bigger year than Avicii, and with bags and bags of talent, he was the perfect choice to remix probably the most popular song of the year, and failed to deliver. Bangarang simply confirms what I predicted in my extensive review of Creamfields 2011, regarding the fact that if Skrillex continued to blend electro-house, dubstep, drum and bass, and everything in-between, he would be simply unstoppable. He has done so on this Bangarang EP to damaging effect, with an eclectic blend of beautiful vocals and catchy hooks mashed with screeching bass-lines and beats so energetic you just want to mosh in you sitting room. The title track was a song that stuck in my head after his set at Creamfields, and made me shiver when re-living the moment he dropped it on YouTube, and is certainly a stand out track on the EP, and in simple words: it is a prime time electro-house-dubstep dancefloor destroyer!! Softer moments come courtesy of a feature from Ellie Goulding, which makes for very touching listening, whilst other collaborations come in the shape of Wolfgang Gartner, The Doors, OWSLA signees Kill The Noise, 12th Planet, and underground rapper Sirah.
Please leave your opinions in the comments section below. Is this the best work of Skrillex to date? Or is he losing his shine??
Enjoy, and play it loud!!!
