John Hamilton delivers on his latest mix: Blue & White
There must be something in the water at NYU, something that produces great DJ’s. Mark Ronson, Jesse Marco, DJ Theory, and John Hamilton are just a few of those who have drank this proverbial ‘NYU water’.
Of those, John Hamilton is currently a senior and living large with gigs staggered across top venues in New York such as Lavo, Santos Party House, Gansevoort Park Hotel, and Webster Hall. Beyond New York City, the 21-year old DJ is slated to play in London, Brussels, Paris, Chicago, and Miami. Hamilton is a Audio Engineering & Business major whose musical talents have graduated to the top of the class in his latest mix: Blue & White. I had the opportunity to catch up with John Hamilton and sample Blue & White.
I focused mainly on the more emotional, musically driven tracks, rather than the dirty, hard, pure beat-driven tracks, says Hamilton. Adding, not that I don’t like that stuff, but I’ve got a whole color spectrum to fill with this mixtape series, so I have time to get into those.
The mix is clean and flows seemlessly with a lot of minor key progressions. Avoiding overly commercialized tracks, Blue & White provides plenty of unique sounds and energy. Be sure to check out this latest mix, and the previous two from John Hamilton: Black & White and Red & White.
